Wheelchairs on city buses All city buses in Harstad and Tromsø are equipped with ramps to make it easier to board/disembark with a wheelchair. Board via the middle door. There is normally space for one wheelchair by the middle door. Use the wheelchair/pram button to notify the driver that you wish to get on or off. Announcements via outdoor speakers are made along the city bus route. Please note that there are not validators for travelcards by the middle door on buses in Harstad. This is only available in Tromsø. Passengers who must use the middle door should contact the driver for assistance to validate their travelcard. Maximum size and weight for wheelchairs The length of the wheelchair cannot exceed 130 cm and the width cannot exceed 75 cm. These measurements include the user. The total weight including user must not exceed 250 kg on city buses and 300 kg on district and regional buses. Electric wheelchairs may have a maximum speed of 10 km/h. Troms Fylkestrafikk’s buses are designed to meet the requirements of the Regulations for universal design and Annex 7 of the underlying Bus Directive. Wheelchairs on district buses All district buses have stairs in the entrance. Wheelchair users must use the lift serviced by the driver. Wheelchairs on ferries Wheelchairs to be used on board the ferry may be driven or pushed from the ferry quay. Feel free to ask the crew for assistance. If the lounge is on a higher level than the vehicle deck, the ferry will be equipped with a lift. Companions Companions Companions of disabled passengers travel free of charge on our means of transport. The disabled passenger must buy a ticket, but their companion does not need to.
